So I finally got around to watching the end of “Papadoru”!
Beast (aka B2st or 비스트), just released their new single, “Beautiful Night”. Cube Entertainment has released teasers for the past couple of days. Similar the 2NE1 teasers, I didn’t know what to think about Beast’s upcoming mini-album. All I really knew was that the music video was going to be colorful and fun. One of the main elements of K-pop that originally and instantly caught my attention was the use of high-energy dance beats. I’ve loved dance music since as far back as I can remember. Even though I used to be a ballet dancer, I can’t dance but I have a strong affection for the energy that is associated with electronic beats. I haven’t been a fan of Beast since their debut, but I can say I am of fan of them now. To be perfectly honest, I had no idea who they were until Hyun-Seung partnered up with Hyuna (4Minute) to create Troublemaker at the end of last year. I loved “Troublemaker” so much that I followed Hyun-Seung into his work with Beast. Even though I am not a diehard fan of Beast, I can certainly appreciate what they have to offer. Beast offers something a little bit different than Big Bang. As much as I love Big Bang, I feel as though G-Dragon and T.O.P. kind of steal the show, whereas with Beast I feel that the talent is a bit more evenly distributed.
The other day Annie posted her Mushi Pan baking adventures. I am here to tell you… I neither cook, nor bake. I buy other people’s cooking and baking… because they are better at it than me. 🙂 So here are my cooking adventures… going to the local bakery and buying baked goods. Yummy baked goods as a matter of fact! I have been meaning to do a post on Clover Bakery for awhile now. Every time I go… I rush home, sit at my dining table and eat my goodies right out of the bag! I usually only have crumbs left when I remember to take pictures. 🙂
While I was teaching in Japan, one of my favorite things to do was to participate in the home economics class when they were cooking, and one of my favorite lessons to take part in was about mushi-pan.
What is mushi-pan, you ask? It’s a Japanese egg-based steamed bun that uses baking powder to rise instead of yeast. It’s usually lightly sweetened, and can be found in any convenience store in Japan, usually with raisins, red beans, or chocolate chips dotting them for more flavor, since the bread itself is so mild.
I can’t stop listening to this song! How about you?
She’s BAAAAAACK! 😀
If you don’t know who I’m referring to, please check out your local Yogurtland starting from TODAY!
Hello Kitty is back at Yogurtland and she brought some familiar pals – Badtz Maru, Little Twin Stars and TuxedoSam. I nearly freaked out when I saw the shadow sticker hanging outside my Yogurtland the other day. It had a big JULY 10th printed on it, and I immediately entered the date into my calendar. Last summer, I went a little crazy and bought the entire collection minus the T-Shirt and the tote bag. The tote bag wasn’t available at my Yogurtland, but if it were I probably would have purchased it too! This summer I made it easy for myself. I bought the entire collection in one go. 🙂 If you know me (Kelli), you know that I am an avid Hello Kitty collector. Some people collect stamps, some people collect cars, and some people collect empty liquor bottles. I just happen to collect an adorable white cat who wears a red bow.
2NE1 happens to be one of our few mutual favorite groups, so this is a collaborative post!
On July 5th, 2NE1 released their latest single “I Love You”, and on the 6th they released the accompanying video. Stylistically it’s in between “I Am the Best” and “Lonely”, if that’s possible – once you hear the song, you’ll understand why we say that. At first we were curious to see if the song would be able to live up to 2NE1’s last mini-album, which was full of hits. The previews had us nervous and excited, and once we heard the culmination of the bits and pieces, it didn’t disappoint.
SM Entertainment just released SUPER JUNIOR’s title single off their upcoming 6th album, “Sexy, Free and Single”. As a grammar nerd, the title bugs me a little because I’m part of the pro-Oxford Comma faction of writers/readers, but that has nothing to do with this post 🙂
Actually, this post is about my thoughts on the video released for “Sexy, Free and Single” as a fan of SUPER JUNIOR! And of course I’m super-excited because it’s the first video in 2 years to have one of my favorites of the group, Kangin, back from his mandatory military service!
So, last year I asked my mom for her kalbi recipe. I’m sure every Korean mother has a family recipe that they think is the best, and my mom’s no exception, and neither am I 🙂 In honor of the heat and summer (and a visit from my little sister), we decided to make some kalbi burgers, using the recipe and improvising a bit. Here’s the recipe!
